EMoment — An E-Commerce Platform for Odisha

An e-commerce platform for EMoment in Odisha — storefront, seller tools, payments and fulfilment built for a regional market with its own languages, logistics and buying habits.

EMoment set out to build an e-commerce platform for Odisha rather than a copy of a national marketplace. Local sellers, regional delivery, customers who shop in Odia and English, and payment habits that mix UPI, cards and cash on delivery. Vedspace designed and built the platform — storefront, seller panel, order management, payments and delivery integration — and took it to launch in fourteen weeks.

01

The challenge

A regional marketplace has all the complexity of a national one — catalogue, carts, payments, returns, seller onboarding — plus the parts national players get wrong locally: language, address formats, delivery coverage and trust with sellers who have never sold online. It had to be affordable to run and simple enough for a small team to operate.

02

Our approach

We built the platform around sellers as much as buyers. Seller onboarding, catalogue tools and order handling were designed for people listing products on a phone for the first time. The storefront is bilingual from the ground up rather than translated afterwards, with search and categories tuned for how customers in Odisha actually shop. Payments support UPI, cards and cash on delivery; delivery is integrated with regional logistics with coverage checked at checkout. The platform was released in stages — catalogue and storefront, then payments and fulfilment, then seller self-service — each one live and usable.

03

Where it stands

EMoment launched as a working bilingual marketplace with sellers onboarding themselves, customers paying the way they prefer and orders moving through regional delivery. Merchant and sales figures are the client’s to publish.
